    Zetec-S Turbo opinions

    Hi all,

What do people think about my 'almost' finished build (no turbo yet), the engine is going into a se7en style chassis, probably a MK Indy.

    CR 8.3:1
    Polished valves
    SM ceramic coated piston rings
DENSO / FORD fuel injectors 440cc/min
    DENSO Iridium spark plugs (ITV16)
    10 row Oil Cooler
Bespoke tubular turbo manifold w/T25 flange
Bespoke intake manifold, 48mm k-series TB
    Intercooler
    MegasquirtnSpark-extra mgt

Heres a photo of the manifold before painting.

    All opinions and comments welcome.

How much boost are you looking to run? I would have thought that the 8.3:1 cr would limit you to about 7-10 psi?

Other than that it looks really nice, who made the exhaust manifold and how much?

The paint used for th block is by Plasticote, called Alluminium 'metal protekt', it is heat resistant upto around 160 degC. The head is Hammerite Smooth Green, Smooth Yellow on the Cam cover and Smooth Red on the plenum , I've used Hammerite Smooth on engines before and it has still not been affected by the heat (2 years solid)

I need to be running 1-1.5Bar boost, 1.5 Bar is the maximum my MAP sensor can measure. VanaAken developements sell a turbo kit for the Fiesta/Puma Zetec-S and run 0.5Bar on a CR of11:1 !! without any mods, just a bolt on kit - I think thats why lots of them end up with engine damage. If you take a look and the time to put in all the data into the java apps on ; www.turbofast.com.au it can give you a good idea of what boost can be run on certain CRs and different octane fuels - I know its crude but its a good ball park figure.

I hope to have it running on a jig in the next 2 months or so, just to check over the essentials, and get the idle settings right, and a few other essentials.

Needs to source a T25 turbocharger, similar in size to the ones used on the Rover 820, 220 turbo.
