Escort Mk2 English axle wheel bearing seat dimensions

Hi,
I‘ve got an english axle for my Escort Mk2, bought it a year ago from a guy.
While test-fitting the half axles I noticed the outer ring protudes from the bearing seat (~17,6mm deep), the bearing dimensions are the same as the ones of the Escort Mk2 I found at Burtons. Is the axle the one with the correct wide bearing seat or the old one from Anglia and Cortina Mk1? Width and leaf spring mountings are the same as my old cologne axle.

Sorry for lack of knowledge, until now I never had to mess with Escort axles…

Hi,
Messed around with some spare parts, by assembling the axle parts everything fits together. 17,6mm bearing seat is right for the escort bearings.

Yes the bearing does protrude about 3mm out of the axle casing. The brake drum backing plate normally sits on that 3mm protrusion. Hence why you can buy the 3mm spacer plates when people convert to disc brakes on the rear. Otherwise the half shaft retaining plate doesn't sit flat.
